John Sainsbury Award for Learning and Development
The John Sainsbury Award for Learning and Development was presented to Derek Harle, Factory Manager and Carol Adams, Health & Safety and Training Manager representing Dalepak Foods and Northern Foods for its continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence programme.
They completely restructured and developed teams, defining roles against the key performance indicators, and allowing the new team structure to take on more responsibility for the development of the factory, via Factory Improvement Teams or Fit teams. They now support and embrace improvements in products, processes and procedures. As a result, employees are more commercially aware, cost savings have been made, waste has been reduced and health and safety greatly improved.
